A 400-pound woman was allegedly caught shoplifting and was subsequently tasered after her motorised cart got stuck when she was trying to escape.

Jerrie Perkins, 30, allegedly tried to steal $600 worth of electronic goods from a Meijer store in Pontiac, Michigan. Her attempt was foiled, however, when her motorised cart got stuck in the exit door.

When staff heard the door alarm activating they asked her for the receipts. It was at this point she got violent and police were called.

Perkins - who is described as being 5ft 2in and weighing 400lb - has been charged with unarmed robbery, resisting and obstructing a police officer and second-degree retail fraud.
